I was just curious after reading alot of these kind of threads why so many beta vets seem to be so incensed over the idea of being refunded their original purchase price for BPOs and the like. I'm sure CCP has some kind of purchase tracking system like any good store, so they probably know who bought what, when and for how much. So if you paid 30 AURUM for something, and then got thirty back because the item gets removed, isn't that pretty fair?
I'm just asking because nowhere have I seen someone give a reason for why they should get 'refunded' at current prices when they bought something at what is equivalent to sale prices. It's be like going to Target to return a shirt you bought on sale and expecting full price. It seems like a silly thing to get mad at.
So please, just answer the question, no personal attacks for 'daring to think of such blasphemy' and so forth.

Rei Shepard wrote:I find it quite stupid that we "get" BPO's refunded because they now think a BPO item at a value of 900 ish isk influences the ecomy....
With 1.7 they are taking away vehicle BPO's and refund people
Next up when all the suit are in they will prolly "refund" dropsuit BPO's due to some changing stats and they will then proceed to take away all those aswell...
If they take away the BPO's i want a real Cash refund as i would never have bought for instance the 100 euro Dren set if there were no BPO's in it, refunding me with Aur for suits i bought for looks is something i dont need/want.
Lets at least hope that it wont come to that....or they leave my Templar BPO's alone.
Giving a cash refund would probably be the cleanest way to do it, and I doubt anyone would have a leg to stand on if they tried to complain.

This prevents the spread of numerous unused multiples to new people. A highly UNlikely scenario. There may be a lot of BPOs in inventory right now, but remember that we are a small population at the moment. Once the player base grows to that of Eve Online levels, the percentage of BPOs compared to the population then will be minimal. There are still Eve Online players that currently own Tech 2 BPOs used for high-tier ships like Exhumers and such yet players in Eve can still freely trade them and they have almost no impact on the Eve economy.
EVE BPOs function differently, so there is honestly no comparison. In EVE there NEED to be BPOs because they are just blueprints. They need to create everything from these prints using materials. Otherwise, everything would be prohibitively expensive because the manufacturer would have to add the cost of Blueprint research and Blueprint making into their asking price. DUST BPOs don't let you make money off others, but instead just give you an infinite supply of that item. This removes that one person from the pool for sellers of that item's normal counterpart if the market opens up, but doesn't give that person any producer-level advantages. It really isn't much of a problem in DUST from a supply-demand standpoint, the issue of DUST BPOs is mostly moral (the Free to Pay conspiracies surrounding all free games) and the classification of items as Blueprints (CCP might be restructuring the naming and production to that of EVE's when they get around to making the market.
In short DUST BPOs are completely different from EVE ones. DUST BPOs do not alter the market as much as EVE ones. DUST BPO's functionality may be giving them slight issues with naming schemes for free market.
